Frozen Banana Daiquiri

Take your tastebuds to the tropics with this creamy frozen banana daiquiri. Between the fresh fruit and dark rum, it’s sweet, boozy, and to die for!

Oh, and it’s crazy easy to make.

Frozen Banana Daiquiri Recipe

This recipe makes a nice thick frozen banana daiquiri. It’s like a cross between a boozy milkshake and a smoothie.

Of course, it most certainly is boozy! So keep this one away from the kids.

Top it off with a dusting of cocoa powder or a wedge of pineapple, and don’t forget the little umbrella!

Ingredients:

Be sure to chill the glass before you start! Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Dark Rum
  • Banana Liqueur
  • Fresh Lime Juice
  • Simple Syrup
  • Bananas (frozen)
  • Ice
  • Coconut Milk (optional)

How To Make the Perfect Frozen Banana Daiquiri:

  1. Put the rum and banana liqueur into a blender with the lime juice, simple syrup, frozen bananas, and ice.
  2. Put the lid on a pulse the contents a few times, adjusting the ice if needed.
  3. Blend the ingredients until smooth and creamy.
  4. If you like the drink thinner, add some coconut milk.
  5. Pour into chilled glasses and enjoy!

What’s the Best Banana Liqueur for Cocktails?

Banana flavoring has a bad reputation for being chemically overwhelming. Plus, it doesn’t usually taste like bananas.

So, if you’re using real bananas for your daiquiri, why bother with the liqueur?

Well, you can’t always guarantee how “banana-y” your bananas will be. And if you’re drinking a banana cocktail, you want the flavor front and center!

Here are my go-to recommendations for the best banana liqueur:

Giffard Banane du Brésil

If you like natural banana flavor, I recommend Giffard Banane du Brésil. It’s got a nice, light caramel note, but the banana fruitiness is front and center.

This is a high-quality banana liqueur made by a French company (Giffard). And the flavor comes from the fact that they distill real bananas to make it!

Tempus Fugit Crème de Banane

Another fantastic option is Tempus Fugit Crème de Banana which is just slightly more expensive.

It’s got more caramel flavor, leaving the banana as a nice, pleasant note in the background.

Tempus Fugit Spirits are known for their quality liqueurs, and this banana recipe is no exception. It’s rich, lightly sweet, and goes great in cocktails.

Bols Banana Liqueur

The above options are excellent, but can be tough to find.

But Bols Banana liqueur is widely available and super affordable. So if you don’t plan to use it often, it’s a great choice.

The flavor isn’t as good, but it’s still pretty sweet and fruity.

99 Bananas

For those that like their drinks strong, 99 Bananas is the banana liqueur to buy,

It has a very high alcohol content (a whopping 99 proof!) and a pretty impressive banana flavor to boot.

Recipe Variations

The beauty of frozen cocktails like this is that you can so easily modify them! Add different fruit, change the booze, or even include spices.

Need some inspiration? Check out these recipe variations:

1. Chocolate Banana - Add 1-2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder, and be sure to blend it well. Alternatively, add crème de cacao instead of banana liqueur.

2. Banana Rum Coffee Cooler - Replace 2 ounces of dark rum with cold brew coffee concentrate. Alternatively, swap the banana liqueur for cold brew or Kahlua.

3. Spiced Banana - Use spiced rum instead of dark rum and add a pinch of cinnamon when blending.

4. Tropical Banana Rum Cocktail- Add the optional coconut milk and use coconut rum, like Malibu, instead of dark rum.

5. Banana and Berry - Add 1 cup of mixed berries (fresh or frozen) to the blender and keep everything else the same.
