Of course, it’s still super yummy on its own!

How to Make The Best Banana Mousse

This is enough for 6 servings. I think they look great in these glass jars with lids and spoons, but you can totally use any glasses or ramekins you have at home

Ingredients

There are plenty of complicated banana mousse recipe ideas out there calling for eggs and tempering, and all that jazz.

But if you just want something simple, try this recipe:

  • Bananas - the riper the better!
  • Honey - for sweetness. Feel free to use agave instead
  • Whipping Cream - for richness and a nice fluffy texture
  • Lime Juice - a touch of citrus to balance the flavors

Method

Making this mousse is a breeze. The only thing to keep in mind is that it need to chill for a few hours. So be sure to start early!

  1. Peel the bananas, then slice, and chop them into chunks.
  2. Add the banana chunks to a blender with the honey and lime juice. Blend until smooth and lump-free.
  3. Add the cream to the blender and blitz until well combined. Alternatively, whip the cream to stiff peaks, then gently mix it into the pureed bananas for a light and airy finish.
  4. Pour the mixture into your chosen containers, cover, and chill in the fridge for at least 3 hours.
  5. Serve with chocolate shavings, whipped cream, a drizzle of caramel, or a berry compote.

Recipe Variations

This recipe is a fabulous sweet treat and you can do all kinds of fun things to make it your own.

For example:

  • Add a swirl of caramel to the pot before pouring the mix in, then top it with more caramel
  • Gently stir some crushed cookies into the mousse for texture
  • Top it off with a layer of Biscoff spread and crushed cookies
  • Add a vanilla wafer to the bottom then pour the mix on top

And you can even make this dairy-free! Check out the recipe below:

Easy Vegan Banana Mousse Recipe

Since you’ll use coconut cream, you’ll obviously taste it a little over the banana. But I think it’s such a fun addition.

And you can even add some chopped pineapple on top to really bring out the tropical vibes.

Ingredients:

  • 800 grams of Bananas (14 ounces, about 5 whole bananas)
  • 85 grams of Agave syrup or Maple syrup (4 tablespoons)
  • 200 ml of Coconut Cream, refrigerated overnight (about 1 cup)
  • Juice of 1/4 Lime

Method:

  1. In a blender or food processor, combine the bananas, lime juice, and agave or maple syrup. Blend until smooth.
  2. Scoop out the solid part of the refrigerated coconut cream (leaving the liquid behind). Beat it in a separate bowl until it becomes fluffy and light, similar to whipped cream.
  3. Gently fold the banana mixture into the whipped coconut cream until well combined.
  4. Divide the mousse among individual serving dishes, then cover and refrigerate them for at least 2 hours, or until set.

Please note: It’s super important to chill the coconut cream before you use it. Otherwise, the coconut cream won’t be firm enough to whip, and it won’t be properly separated from the liquid.
